The history of the Challenge coin goes back to WWI and is meant to be a way of proving you are a member of a US Armed Forces unit, although it is not an official medal. Today it is used as a source of spirit building and can be used for a drinking game. The Challenge coin can be any size from as small as 3/8" to 2" or more with no color to lots of color and made of metal. They can be single or double sided with a smooth or knurled edge and low or high relief with a mirror finish; can be a limited production with individual numbering or an unlimited production. Packaging can be a historic as a leather pouch with a draw string goes over ones neck to a see through plastic coin holder. If the coin is drilled through or defaced in any manner, it is considered worthless. The Challenge coin can be made of any metal from jeweler’s metal, pewter, lead, iron, brass, stainless steel, gold fill, sterling silver, 10 or 14 Kt gold to platinum. They can be produced anywhere in the world. Amcraft produces them both in the USA and the Orient. Shown above are some representative prices. Please contact the factory to get an accurate quote
